Chimes
The chimes of Nový Jičín commemorate the 700th anniversary of the first written mention of the town. A set of 17 bronze bells is placed on the tower of the town hall and every three hours between 9 am and 6 pm it plays a selected melody.
The 17 bells of the chimes are among the largest in the country. The chimes in Nový Jičín are also specially adapted for the outdoors. The chimes are always played before 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm, followed by the classic time indication. At night it is switched off. The main control element of the system is the control clock with touch screen. The clock allows the recording, storage and playback of melodies. From the town hall tower, the song General Laudon Goes Through the Village or Till a Narrow Path Leads to Jičín can now be heard.
