Climb the tower of the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and discover the city from the highest vantage point in the urban conservation area. Enjoy a unique view of the historic center and surrounding countryside and experience the atmosphere of the historic tower.

The first written mention of the church on Žerotínova Street dates back to 1366. The Renaissance prismatic tower was built at the end of the 16th century. Including the dome, it measures 66 meters and is the tallest building in the city center.

Tours of the tower for the public are organized by the staff of the Nový Jičín Visitor Center.

Visitor route

The tour includes:

Climbing the 7 floors of the tower (126 steps),
Visiting the tower keeper's room,
Passing through all floors to the observation deck with a panoramic view and the possibility of borrowing binoculars free of charge.
Entrance is only from Kostelní Street. The building is not wheelchair accessible.

Tour organization

Guided tours, each group max. 10 people including the guide,
Participants meet in front of the tower entrance,
There is a narrow passage in front of the observation deck – people with a waist circumference of more than 100 cm may not be allowed to enter.
