In the introductory part of the exhibition you will gradually get acquainted with the technological process of hat production. You will discover the magic of hat making and see the transformation of the material at certain stages of processing. You will be drawn into the remarkable production process by authentic video demonstrations of the individual sections of the factory production. You will also learn about important milestones and events connected with the hat-making tradition in the Novojičín region.

Historical panels will explain the history of the hat industry in the Novojičín region and you will also get additional information from the world of hats, for example in the film corner,
which has been modernised with financial support from the Moravian-Silesian Region. The interactive hatter game with Master Prokop is now even more entertaining and the control panel more user-friendly...

However, the cinema corner is mainly used to show popular and educational films about hat making in several languages. Among other things, you can watch films from the world of fashion and for the little ones there are Bob and Bobek, the hat rabbits.

The exhibition of hats introduces visitors in an entertaining way to the technological process of headwear production and to the technical monuments, including hat factories that were established in Nový Jičín in the 19th and 20th centuries. It brings closer the rich hatmaking history that the town can boast as the only one in the Czech Republic.

The display case next to the film corner is decorated with a unique collection item in the form of a hat worn by Zdenka Werichová, the wife of Jan Werich.

The exhibition is complemented by exhibits of production machines.

Virtual reality

The main novelty is the introduction of virtual reality, which has attracted a lot of attention. Thanks to VR goggles visitors can be transported directly into the TONAK hat factory and see for themselves watch the entire production process. This unique experience gives a glimpse behind the scenes of one of the most important hat companies, where it is not normally possible to go for security reasons. access for security reasons. The new technology includes special stands with seats, VR glasses and a programmed virtual environment that enhances the interactive experience.
