Hugo Baar
He was born in 1873 in Nový Jičín. After studying in Vienna and at the Munich Academy, he tried out various painting techniques. His winter motifs capturing the frosty poetry of the landscape, especially the Beskydy Mountains, are very well known. As an excellent organizer of community life, he was able to bring together Czech and German artists, especially in Moravia. He is the only one of the many famous artists from Nový Jičín to be buried in the local cemetery.
