Rudolf Weiss
* March 4, 1834 (Nový Jičín)
† September 26, 1913 (Nový Jičín)
He was a businessman from Nový Jičín and owner of a wool processing factory. He was born on March 4, 1834, in house no. 683 as the son of clothier Franz Jakob Weiss and his wife Anna Marie, née Owesná. He learned the clothier's trade and was awarded his master's certificate on June 17, 1857. Together with his brother Heinrich, they took over the management of their father's business and on December 31, 1861, they registered the company "Franz Jakub Weihs Söhne, Tuch- und Wollwarenerzeugung in Neutitschein" at the Regional Court in Nový Jičín. After the premature death of his brother Heinrich in 1872, the entire company was transferred to him and renamed "Franz Jakob Weihs Sohn". The eldest son, Rudolf Weiß Jr., joined the management of the company in 1890, and the second son, Max, in 1894. However, after the sudden death of his eldest son, Rudolf Weiss was forced to take over the management of the company again. He ran the company until January 7, 1903, when he handed it over to his son Max. From 1870 to 1909, Rudolf Weiß was a member of the city council, and from 1891 to 1894 he was a member of the city foundation.
