Fritz Hückel
* June 22, 1885 (Nový Jičín)
† January 12, 1973 (Munich)
He was the leading representative of the Hückel hat-making family in the first half of the 20th century, a passionate race car driver and designer. He was born to Augustin Hückel and his wife Angela. In May 1911, Fritz Hückel, in car number 6, together with Hans Ledwinka in car number 15, entered the popular "Die Oesterreichische Alpenfahrt" race with a Kopřivnice car called "Nesselsdorfer" (i.e., Kopřivničan). Fritz Hückel capitalized on his fascination with motor sports, his experiences,
and the knowledge he gained with the six-cylinder cars from the Kopřivnice car manufacturer around 1921, when he began preparing his own small series production of sports cars in N.. Jičín. In 1935, he presented his first car, the Hückel Special with a six-cylinder Tatra engine, but in the end, larger-scale series production was not introduced. Fritz Hückel's car racing career ended after World War II, and he only met his friend and fellow Nový Jičín native Alfred Neubauer (1891–1980) at races as a spectator. Fritz Hückel died on January 12, 1973, in Munich.
