Carl Hückel
* January 18, 1850 (Nový Jičín)
† December 19, 1919 (Nový Jičín)
Entrepreneur Carl Franz Hückel was the son of Johann Albert Hückel. In his youth, he studied at a lower secondary school in Nový Jičín and then at a higher secondary school in Opava. Together with his brothers Augustin and Johann, he ran a hat factory from 1868. Around 1876, he spent an extended period in the USA, where he studied the technology and organization of local hat-making companies. He also visited many other hat-making factories in England, France, Belgium, and Germany, and applied his new knowledge to the production of his own company. In Nový Jičín, he was a donor to humanitarian institutions and supported young painters and sculptors. On January 14, 1910, Carl Hückel, a factory owner in Nový Jičín, was named an honorary citizen of the city of Nový Jičín.
