Franz Barwig
Born in 1868 in Šenov near Nový Jičín. Another representative of the "artistic hotbed" that our town was often considered to be. He devoted himself more to sculpture than painting, preferring bronze to stone. He was able to make exceptional use of the skills he had cultivated since his youth, combined with his great talent for observation, in the creation of wooden sculptures. His works can be found throughout Europe and overseas. His most famous work, a bronze sculpture of a dancing peasant couple on a fountain in Nový Jičín, demonstrates his ability to capture life in motion.
