Karel von Schwarz
Born in 1817 in the local district of Žilina, he gradually grew to become one of the most important builders of railway lines in Austria-Hungary. For his achievements, he became an honorary citizen of many cities throughout Austria-Hungary, including Nový Jičín (thanks to him, the city was connected to the main railway line), received significant awards from the emperor, and was one of the most prominent figures in Salzburg at the time, as he was responsible for the significant expansion of the city (the main street was named after him and a monument was erected).
