Suchdol nad Odrou
The town of Suchdol nad Odrou, situated in the Moravská brána, belongs to the Poodří Protected Landscape Area. It was founded by the Slavs in the 13th century. Among the most valuable historical monuments of Suchdol are the Baroque Catholic parish and a pair of churches dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. The building of the railway station is also a listed building. In the centre of the township there is a cultural house, an aircraft museum and a museum with exhibits reminiscent of local history. In front of the museum there is a statue of Emperor Joseph II.
For sports enthusiasts there is a sports complex in Suchdol where you can play football, handball, basketball, netball or tennis. There is also a fitness centre, sauna and swimming pool within the complex.
For recreation, there is a widely visited water reservoir in the local part of Kletná, where you can swim, fish and camp. The township is also famous as a passing station of the western Pony Express, reflecting its long tradition of horse breeding. Cyclists can also join the trail to the Novojičín, Fulnecko and Oder regions.
