Kopřivnice
Kopřivnice is about 20 minutes by car from Nový Jičín. The most visited tourist attraction is the Tatra Truck Museum, which was inaugurated in 2021. The Laško Museum boasts a newly installed exhibition of the Zátopeks, which depicts the private and public life of the famous athletes against the backdrop of a difficult time. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Emil Zátopek's birth, a life-size statue of him was unveiled in the centre of the town. You can also visit the Fojtství Museum with an exhibition of historic carriages, a picture gallery and exhibitions dedicated to the history of the town. The most important religious monument is the neo-Gothic church of St. Bartholomew. There are many opportunities for sports and exploring natural and historical attractions in Kopřivnice. Try visiting the Red Stone or the ruins of Šostýn Castle with the nearby Bezruč Lookout Tower. The lookout tower on the White Mountain is also an architecturally interesting building. Both lookout towers are part of the Silesian Trail. The nearby Váňův kámen rock formation is a natural monument formed from boulders and blocks of Mesozoic limestone. In addition, archaeologists have discovered prehistoric flint knives and bronze needles in its vicinity. You can indulge in exercise and pleasant lazing at the summer swimming pool, indoor pool, the Větřkovice dam and the Vanaivan sports centre. Kopřivnice is a part of the so-called Laško Gate of the Beskydy Mountains, along with Štramberk, Příbor and Hukvaldy.
