Tourist information center Of Nový Jičín

The oldest town in the Novojičín region. The first written mention of it dates back to 1251. Příbor was made a town in 1294. Its modern history is connected with Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, who was born in Příbor and spent the first years of his life here, which according to his teachings were extremely important. You can learn more about his life and work in the newly installed exhibition in his birthplace.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Church of the Holy Cross are important church buildings. The town houses on the square, mostly with arcades, are listed and form the basis of the town's conservation area. The cultural landmark of Příbor is the Piarist monastery with its garden. Sports facilities include a gymnasium, bowling, tennis courts and a town cycle path. Příbor is a part of the so-called Laško Gate of the Beskydy Mountains, along with Štramberk, Kopřivnice and Hukvaldy.
